In the aftermath of Israel’s bombing of Gaza, killing more than 250 people, including 66 children, tens of thousands converged on Washington, DC on Saturday, May 29th for the National March for Palestine. Sparked by violent incidents that went viral of Israel’s seizure of homes of Palestinians in East Jerusalem and Israeli soldiers firing on worshippers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the march is part of a mass, global solidarity movement that is demanding an end to Israel’s system of occupation and apartheid, demanding an end to U.S. military funding to Israel, and calling for a renewed campaign of boycotts, divestment and sanctions to target the apartheid state. We spend the hour with our coverage at the Lincoln Memorial, hearing from speakers and attendees determined to tell Palestinians story of more than seven decades of resistance to settler colonialism.
