This week, the week after the election of Donald Trump as the 45th president of the United States,has been a time of tremendous action here in DC. As this city and region continues to reverberate from Trumps election, our streets have been filled with activists, including students, environmentalists, and those celebrating the apparent death of the Trans-Pacific Partnership or TPP. These actions are also occurring in the wake of Trumps appointment of Steve Bannon, leader of the racist alt-right movement, as a senior advisor, and the appointment of other elements of the far-right, including persons recommended by corporate lobbyists.
Today, well also continue our coverage of the monumental fight for clean water, land and air at Standing Rock and this is the third week of the month and in the second half wel have a new installment of “The F Word,” our exploration of fascism, proto-fascism and pre-fascism in the United States and emanating from the United States. Our guest today is Brian Becker, national coordinator of the ANSWER Coalition and host of “Loud and Clear” at Sputnik Radio.
